and old cars was the theme for Saturday's events.
|

and Cynthia McMillan head for the Korbel Cellars in their vintage Mercedes.
Bette Shutt demonstrates champagne tasting techniques to the gang.

Lobsters! Lobsters! Spring Fling kicked off Friday night with a
lobster feast that wouldn't quit.
|
 |
Neat vintage cars were the
"in" mode of transportation.
|
 | Saturday's
car tour ended at Catacula Winery for a guided tour and tasting.
|
 | Charles
Eldridge and Don Smith discuss the finer points of wine tasting while Barry
and Jenny Ludwig opt for water tasting.
|

good for the Robello's.
|
 |
Sales were brisk for the new chapter
burgee (pennant?)
|
 | Dave
and Tammy Lyon set the pace for the saturday night '50's sock hop (Dave, how
did you manage to keep your letter sweater from the moths?). The DJ
gave lessons, does anybody remember what this dance is?
|
Spring Fling 2002

boaters drove their vintage cars to Ironstone Vinyards for an informal car
show and crab feed. |
 | Chuck
Kelley put on his famous crab feed.

 | Saturday
there was a vintage car tour, a picnic, followed by a visit to Moaning
Caves.
|
 | Saturday
night was a big Hoedown at Ironstone Vinyard. Some people reported sighting
Elvis and James Dean too.
|
Spring Fling, 2001
 | Spring
Fling, held in Nevada City, featured antique transportation this year, starting with horse and
buggy rides. A horse faced butler welcomes our chapter president, Jeff Peterson, to the
carriage house for cocktails and dinner.
|
 | Carlos
and Suzie Rodriguez helped Judy Koch organize this years event. What a
totally well organized and fun event. Tom Grossman and Bernie Atkinson
enjoy the fun and camaraderie.
|
 | Marshall
Mathews brought his 1908 Thomas Flyer. This meticulously restored historical
vehicle lead the old car parade to the Empire mine tour and picnic. It was a real treat to see
the cars up close.
|
 | The
highlight of the Spring Fling was the traditional crab feast. Cynthia and
Mont McMillan lead the toast to Chuck Kelly who did an extra effort to find
us fresh crabs this late in the season. We certainly appreciate that.
|
 | The
weekend ended with a train ride through the woods. Sites of interest
included old mining operations, much antique railroad equipment and a
Chinese graveyard. |
