Join us as we celebrate the fun, friendship and camaraderie that symbolizes ACBS. Friends, great food, wine, cocktails, cars, fauna and flora; we will make it all happen. We just need YOU to make it complete.

The first social weekend of ACBS is right around the corner, on April, 8th, 9th and 10th.  And as has happened the last two years, “de ja vu”, Covid is still causing problems, delays and dilemmas, but your President and Spring Fling co chair, Virginia and I, along with our hard working committee, promise to make the weekend a very fun one with safety measures and protocol in place and hope that by that time, we will have more freedom to enjoy each others’ company without restrictions.

We have 26 rooms reserved at the Little River Inn, which will be our weekend headquarters. Rooms are available  to be reserved from April 7th to the 10th. ACBS official weekend starts on the 8th, but some of us are planning on arriving in Mendocino on the 7th. The block is under “ACBS 22”. Please use this code when making your reservations as we would hope to have all rooms in a row on the same long porch either upstairs or downstairs. All blocked rooms have ocean views.

There are also hotels and motels in Fort Bragg which is a bit of a drive, but some may actually enjoy the drive back and forth to the festivities as the Mendocino area that time of year is rather enchanting.

And, contrary to ACBS members’ tradition and habit, please do not wait until the last minute to sign up. Sign up as soon as you have the information, since we will have deadlines to consider.

Oh and last, but not least, gas up your fun cars, put some pennies in your pocket and come prepared to have Fun!

The important information you will need to have a fun and exciting weekend is below.

Weekend starts Friday, April 8th, 2022, at The Little River Inn,

3 pm:  Join us at the Veranda, or anytime after check-in, for wine, cocktails, munchies, ocean views, gossip, political discussions, and lots of catch up talk.  Bring a libation to share, wine, beer, cocktails, soda. We’ll provide the munchies.

5 pm:  Dinner in the Main Dining Room. We have the dining room to ourselves between 5 and 7. Will be given three choices of entrees, one being vegetarian, which we can choose at that time. With supplies being hard to get, the restaurant cannot give us the three options at this time. We think this is a win win, since what we might like to have that day might be different from what we may want when we sign up. Lemonade out of lemons.  Meal includes salad and dessert. Dessert will be served to us back at the veranda  to allow us more time to hang out with each other and enjoy the Sunset. 7 pm: Back on the Veranda for Dessert, Port, Brandy and after dinner drinks.

10 am: Saturday, April 9th, 2022.

Meet in the Little River parking lot for a scenic drive on Highway one to Star Crest Winery, the only California Winery perched high on bluffs, hugging the Ocean. Promising you pounding waves, incredible rock formations and whale sighting. Dress warm with comfortable shoes.  We have our own private area away from the crowds. Buy your wine and join the group for a group delivered lunch, games and photo ops.

1.30 pm: We leave the winery and leisurely head on to the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, 18220 CA-1 Fort Bragg, 47 acres of canyons, wetlands, and coastal bluffs, situated between highway one and the Pacific Ocean. Sign up for a self or docent tour.

5 pm:  Meet us for “A Beach Blanket Paella Palooza” at The Little River Inn, Golf Course Grill Area. Decorate and bring your own blanket for this crazy party. Prizes for the silliest, most elegant, and most unique blanket. Appetizers, Paella, Dessert, Putting Green games. And the First Ever Blanket Fashion Show Extravaganza. After dinner we retire to the Abalone Room for games and fun. Wine and beer available for purchase at the Grill.  Cocktails can be bought and brought down from the bar.  Corkage at both dinners is $15.00.  There will be a Classic Spanish Paella, saffron rice, chicken, shrimp, calamari, mussels, roasted red peppers, andouille sausage, artichoke hearts, green peas.  Vegetarian option also available.

We are very excited to offer you the above planned activities for Spring Fling 2022. Although we were hoping that by this time in 2022, Covid and its’ restrictions would be a thing of the past, we have found out that this is not the case in the Mendocino Area. As of this writing, masks are still required and vaccinations are checked for indoor dining. Besides Covid restrictions, the area is experiencing a very acute shortage of hired help. We ask for your patience in all of our planned activities if the service is not as stellar as some of us have come to expect.
